Lactic Acid

Also known as: Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, Milk Acid

Lactic acid is an AHA derived from milk or fermentation. It has a larger molecular weight than glycolic acid, making it gentler and better suited to sensitive skin. In addition to exfoliation, it acts as a humectant by binding water to the skin. It also inhibits tyrosinase, providing mild brightening benefits. The gentlest of the commonly used AHAs.
