Cetyl Alcohol

Also known as: 1-Hexadecanol, Palmityl Alcohol

Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol derived from palm or coconut oil. Despite the name, it is not a drying alcohol. It functions as an emollient, thickener, and emulsion stabiliser in creams and lotions. It gives products a smooth, creamy texture and helps the skin feel soft. Well-tolerated by most skin types, though some individuals with specific sensitivities may react.
