Petrolatum

Also known as: Petroleum Jelly

Petrolatum (petroleum jelly) is the most effective occlusive in skincare, reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by up to 98%. Despite being derived from petroleum, it is non-comedogenic and non-irritating. The 'non-breathable' claim is a myth — it does not prevent oxygen exchange through the skin. Cosmetic-grade petrolatum is highly purified and safe.
