Polysorbate 20 is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier derived from sorbitol and lauric acid. It is primarily used as a solubiliser to incorporate small amounts of oil-soluble ingredients (fragrances, vitamins) into water-based formulations. Also used as an emulsifier in lightweight lotions and toners.
