Retinal (retinaldehyde) is one step closer to retinoic acid than retinol, requiring only one conversion step in the skin. This makes it approximately 11 times more potent than retinol while remaining available without a prescription. It has documented antibacterial activity against P. acnes, making it effective for both acne and ageing. Emerging as the preferred retinoid for advanced home use.
